Capital Bank Group Records Strong Operating Performance in H1 2026

Al Salem: Revenues Increased to JOD 226 million and Net Profit Reaches JOD 85.7 million

Capital Bank Group announced its financial results for the first half of 2026, reporting continued strength across its core businesses, driven by higher operating income, strong contributions from its subsidiaries, and the ongoing execution of its strategy to deliver sustainable growth and expand its regional footprint.

The group reported a net profit of JOD 85.7 million during the first six months of the year, supported by continued growth in its core revenue streams. Net interest income increased by 11.5% to JOD 136 million, compared with JOD 122 million during the same period last year. Total income rose by 3.6% to JOD 226 million, up from JOD 218.2 million in the first half of 2025.

The group also maintained a strong financial position, with net credit facilities increased to JOD 3.9 billion at the end of June 2026, compared with JOD 3.86 billion at year-end 2025. Customer deposits stood at JOD 5.6 billion, while total assets remained stable at JOD 8.73 billion. Shareholders' equity reached JOD 991.8 million, up from JOD 988.6 million at the end of 2025. The group continued to maintain a robust capital base and strong liquidity levels, reinforcing its resilience and supporting the execution of its long-term strategic plans.

Commenting on the results, Chairman of Capital Bank Group Bassem Khalil Al Salem said the group's first-half performance is a result of the wise vision and sound guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which played a key role in Jordan's stability and boosting the economic growth.

Al Salem added that the group has continued the successful execution of its strategy to build a diversified and resilient regional banking institution founded on business diversification, greater integration across the group's companies, and the creation of sustainable value for shareholders, in addition to implementing its expansion strategy through a balanced approach that combines disciplined growth with prudent risk management, strengthening its financial position.

Capital Bank CEO Tamer Ghazaleh said the first-half results underscore the strength of the bank's core banking business and continued growth in operating income, supported by higher net interest income and the normalization of the cost of risk. He noted that this reflects both the quality of the bank's credit portfolio and the effectiveness of its risk management framework.

Ghazaleh added that the Bank will continue focusing on improving the quality of its revenues, enhancing its banking products and services, and investing in digital solutions to deliver advanced customer experience, noting that the bank’s commitment to innovation and continued investment in digital banking capabilities and the latest financial technologies, as it received various awards including being recognized by Global Finance magazine as one of the World's Best Private Banks for 2026.

In Iraq, the National Bank of Iraq (NBI) continued to deliver strong operating performance during the first half of the year, supported by sustained growth in its core banking operations and expanding commercial banking activities.

Ayman Abu Dhaim, CEO of NBI, said the bank continued to achieve strong results driven by consistent growth in its core commercial banking business, which has become the primary contributor to its revenues. He noted that this reflects the success of the Bank's strategy over recent years to diversify revenue sources, improve earnings quality, and build a business model centered on sustainable banking activities.

Abu Dhaim added that the bank's net direct credit facilities portfolio grew by 6.4%, while total assets increased by 4.2%. He said these results demonstrate the Bank's success in expanding its customer base, improving operational efficiency, and continuously enhancing its products and services, further strengthening its position in the Iraqi market and supporting Capital Bank Group's strategic objectives.
