Capital Bank Donates 50,000 Jordanian Dinars to Campaign for Day Laborers
The campaign aims to collect donations from individuals and private sector companies, and then direct them through official authorities and civil society institutions to prepare and deliver food aid to daily laborers and their families, who have reached a total of 200,000 families registered with the Ministry of Social Development.
The aid provided aims to cover the basic needs of the target group for a whole month, in the form of food parcels that are processed and sterilized under the supervision of the relevant authorities, and then distributed in ways that are in line with the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the Jordanian government.
Capital Bank has expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by all government agencies to fight the spread of the coronavirus and provide adequate health care for patients, praising Naua for this campaign to support day laborers who are the most affected under these exceptional circumstances that Jordan and countries all over the world are going through.
According to Naua’s CEO Ahmad Al-Zoubi, the campaign is in line with the recommendations of the International Labor Organization (ILO), which called in a report to take fair and comprehensive measures when responding to the economic crisis caused by the emerging coronavirus (COVID-19), warning of the increasing rates of poverty for this group around the world, as a result of the reduced working hours, in light of the preventive measures imposed by the rapid spread of the coronavirus in many countries, including Jordan.
Al-Zoubi indicated that contributions by individuals and the private sector in Jordan is the driving factor for the growth of this initiative, describing the private sector companies as the primary and most essential player in driving this campaign forward towards achieving its goals.
Since the launch of the campaign at the beginning of the crisis and until the end of April 9th 2020, Naua was able to facilitate all donations through its platform to process more than 50,000 food parcels, which were distributed through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and a number of civil society institutions.
