Attorney General Dismisses Lawsuit Against Capital Bank and Prohibits Prosecution
His Excellency the Attorney General, Dr. Hassan Abdallat, dismissed the lawsuit filed by Talal Abu Ghazaleh regarding his deposits in Beirut and prohibited the prosecution of both Capital Bank of Jordan, the owner of the trademark Capital Bank, and its authorized signatory, Dawod Al-Ghoul, as well as Société Générale Bank- Jordan and its authorized signatory, Rami Al- Khuffash.
The decision was reached based on the result that the conflict is limited to Talal Abu Ghazaleh and Société Générale Bank (Lebanon), and there is no legal link between Capital Bank of Jordan (as the merging company) and legal successor of Société Générale Bank -Jordan (as the merged company), and Talal Abu Ghazaleh's deposit in Lebanon.
It is worth noting that the decision of His Excellency the Attorney General is considered, according to the provisions of the law, a final and non-appealable decision before any judicial authority.
Capital Bank Group issued a statement on Tuesday confirming its intention to sue the complainant, who issued a misleading statement that was circulated by various media outlets, as well as to sue anyone who has published the misleading news that has harmed the reputation of the bank and those responsible for it.
