Capital Bank Continues Sponsorship of the “Green Caravan” Program
Employees Plant 500 Trees in Celebration of World Environment Day
Reaffirming its commitment to environment, sustainability, and community engagement, Capital Bank participated in a tree-planting initiative organized by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) under its “Green Caravan” program to mark World Environment Day.
As part of its continued sponsorship of the program, Capital Bank employees volunteered to plant 500 fruit-bearing trees on land owned by small-scale farmers. The initiative reflects the bank’s dedication to supporting efforts that expand green spaces, empower local communities, and promote environmental and food sustainability across Jordan.
Commenting on the initiative, Touleen Barto, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer at Capital Bank, said that sustainability remains a key pillar of the bank’s strategy. She noted that supporting environmental and community-focused initiatives is an integral part of the bank’s commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact.
Barto added that employee participation in the initiative underscores the importance of volunteerism and collective action in addressing environmental challenges. She highlighted the role such initiatives play in raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources, encouraging sustainable practices, supporting small-scale farmers, and generating long-term benefits for local communities.
The initiative forms part of Capital Bank’s broader corporate social responsibility program, which focuses on enhancing the bank’s environmental and social impact. Earlier this year, the bank published its fourth annual Sustainability Report, highlighting a range of achievements accomplished in 2025.
As part of its efforts to conserve resources and reduce its environmental footprint, Capital Bank has implemented water-saving technologies across its operations and converted 80% of its vehicle fleet to electric vehicles. The bank also provides free electric vehicle charging stations for employees, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
In addition, Capital Bank has launched several environmental protection and recycling initiatives, including the collection and recycling of plastic and paper waste. The bank also responsibly recycles and disposes of 85% of its electronic waste through certified service providers.
Launched by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature in 2003, the “Green Caravan” program aims to expand Jordan’s green cover and empower small-scale farmers through the planting of trees that provide economic, nutritional, and environmental value. The program also contributes to strengthening food security while helping combat desertification and the impacts of climate change.
